Art Boxes for ages 5 -18+ (K-12th Grade!)
With a commitment to fostering creativity and supporting the next generation of visual artists, the Moxiebox Art Scholarship encourages applicants to unleash their imagination. Through community, support, and an inspired belief in self, we believe artistic transformation can occur.
Applications open for submission on December 15, 2023.
The application due date is March 1, 2024.
The winner and runner-up will be announced on March 31, 2024.
Specific Criteria:

Creativity and Originality: Evaluation of the student's ability to innovate and express original ideas in their artwork.

Technical Skill: Assessment of technical proficiency in various artistic mediums (painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, etc.).

Artistic Vision and Conceptualization: How well the student conveys ideas, emotions, or concepts through their art.

Community Impact: Candidate’s potential to use art for positive community impact or advocacy.
The judging panel will consist of MoxieBox Art, Inc. Board of Directors, The Coordinator of the Expanded Learning program at San Bernardino Unified School District, as well as a collection of professional artists and educators.
Please gather and prepare the documentation listed in the following checklist before submitting the application below. The application will include 9 sections. Documents can be uploaded in the following formats: PDF, Word, or Image.

Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA showing your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) if applicable.

Letter of acceptance from your preferred school.
Section 6: Art Portfolio
A collection of 10 original pieces demonstrating skill, diversity, and creativity across different mediums. You will have the option to upload files or submit a link.
Section 7: Artist Statement
In 800-1200 words, provide a written explanation of your artistic journey, influences, and aspirations.
Section 8: Letters of Recommendation
At least two recommendations from art teachers or mentors.
Section 9: Certification and Waivers
Sign and date.
Empowering artists’ journey of pursuing creativity and innovation, Moxiebox Art, Inc. is offering artists financial support for their journey into higher visual arts education.

The MoxieBox Art Scholarship will be offered to San Bernardino City Unified School District high school seniors who are currently participating in The Expanded Learning program and are planning to attend a higher visual arts program.
​
The recipient of the scholarship will be awarded $5,000 sent directly to their school of acceptance. The runner-up recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship to the school of their acceptance.

Open to all EXL artists, this scholarship seeks to nurture talent that thrives in the visual realm, encompassing painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, mixed media, and beyond. It's not just about technical prowess; we are looking for passion, a strong narrative, and the transformative power of artistry.
